Well today we put 115 miles on with some more twisties - (I'm outta work anyway for now) and the wobble seems to have gotten less, is basically unnoticable and only happens on the interstate. Scraped some boards today on both sides and formed a better opinion:
What is taking me a little getting used to is the lean initiation. Once you lay her over, it's rock solid at 35 lbs. air, riding solo. I just have to remember until it becomes automatic to simply be slightly more aggressive when diving into a turn. Slow speeds have proven easy: I could cone exercise right off, if I assume from turnarounds in 17' and full lock takeoffs. Will try double up later, after I get more used to any new feel.
Attempting to get on the busy interstate this morning had the ramp jammed up: I started to go down the shoulder and saw a cop with the disco lights at the bottom and hit the brake - the tire said "LOURCH!!!" and pretty much impressed me - the MT would have just silently slid without slowing me down.
I think if you're the timid type, you may not get used to the tire, because you won't do the recommended "slap it on there and ride the **** out of it". It's being careful on the dive that seems to show the difference the most, very similar to babying a dirtbike: they're made to rip and shred, not putt thru the park.
...I just realized I'm gonna have to change my signature pic!

Where did you find that tire (175/70/16 Vredestein Comtrac)? I can't find it on the link you posted or anywhere on the web. I can only find the 175/75R16 Vredestein Comtrac. I still think it will work though. Here is a good tire size comparison tool.

glad to hear that the Vred CT is working out on your Heritage, as they've been mounted & proven on a couple of Kawasaki Concours's & run hard. thinking about doing one on my fatboy.

Maybe I'm blind, but there isn't a 175/70R16 on that page. There is a 175/75R16 though.

Yes. You're right and not blind. Do they make a 70? I think Quadancer may have had a misprint.

Default Ooopth!!!

OMIGAWD!!! I'm getting SEEENYLE!
Yes friends, it's a 75.
If you're into cruising more than racing, you're gonna love the 1/2 gear higher you get from it...first isn't a problem and all shifts are 5 mph higher. I love it.
Oh, and in the Darkside forum on Delphi, I found most of the guys running LESS pressure than I am presently, and say that the effect is more like a bike tire the lower you go, until you get the dreaded squish.
Makes sense.
NorCal: I'm absolutely sure your rear end is identical to mine. Had a fatboy for a while. Just be ready to be geared up; you'll have to change front sprockets if you want to keep the stock ratio.

Thanks Quadancer! I thought "Damn! He bought the last one in existance!"

Edit: Just went out and did some redneck measuring. Don't think it'll work. I have less than 3/4" on either side. Since this is a bit taller and wider, I think it would rub on the fender

175/75 16 is 6 3/8" width on a 3" rim, this is on a 02 fatboy. If you work on clearances(bolts on inside of fender) you can get a 7" tire on.

I don't see that working on an 06 Ultra Standard though. The outside measurement of my rear fender is 7". I have about 3/4" of clearance from the fender to the tire right now. The 175/75R16 is almost 1.4" wider than my 140/90R16. I'm not sure a bit more than 0.1" is enough.
