Darkside, here I come.
I should have my Vredestein Comtrac 175/75R16 by the end of Nov.
Quad, I do believe our bikes (rear tire and clearances) are exactly the same, so the Comtrac may be my only choice.
Bridgestone Spitfire S-11; Excellent tire! I had these on my Low Rider and a couple Hondas.
Dog, tires look great. Glad you're enjoying the Darkside.
I couldn't say, but I will say this: many of the metric guys sand off any casting marks or lines on their beads and even polish them up to make the tire bead up easier. KY jelly, dish soap or whatnot is used to make it slip on. I wouldn't use any type of grease if I were going to use dynabeads for balance, and don't forget you'll need an extra ounce for the CT (3oz.).
One guy thought vegetable oil was pretty good. At least the dynabeads wouldn't stick to it. Next time, I'll probably get RideOn, since it both balances AND seals leaks.
Oh, and 7k+ on it now...7.5mm tread left from a start of 10mm.

does anyone know for sure if that vred tire will run on the '04-'08 flhr bikes ? i would love to try it but am terrible about tire fitment , need new tire before our spring bike check in .
You're scrood until someone makes a thinner tire. It IS possible that looking online at antique auto tires I'd missed one though. I think that's the only venue you'll find that may have a 16 that narrow. From a 150 to the 175 I have only less than 1/4" to the fender, a bit more elsewhere but not much. Still, I'd measure your tightest clearance and see what you have - your fenders will be a bit different. Whatever your clearance is...let's say it's 14mm: you'd fit 28mm to just get the tire in there minus 2mm per side to clear any anomalies or bumps in the tire. So it sounds like 24mm tire width more would fit, or a 165. At speed it's narrower, so no problem there. Also, going onto a narrower rim squeezes the tire a bit, like onto my 3-1/2" did.
I have 175 minus the 150, or 25mm more: half that is 12.5 - I had 14mm clear, which is why I used that for an example.
