well i guess i am just a total dumbass. i looked at the wrong freaking thing in the owners manual. i read the torque reading for the chain adjustment and not the cover. i guess i got lucky that i did not strip out the primary. will remember for next time.

I will have to say, in aviation we are required to recalibrate our torque wrenches every 12 calander months. This is to make sure the torque you want to applt to the bolt/nut is accurate. Needless to say, I will always trust the torque wrench!!!

i am sure your not the only @_@ to do that. That is why others have broken them. lol

I torque everything i can, i use the bottom end spec as well, last thing i want to do is depend on my "Feel" and end up with stripped out crap on my ride, and thats what id have if i did it by feel, or grunts or whatever you all do.

Lesson to us all to check and double check not only the spec number but also whether it's ft pds or inch pounds. Big trouble if we get the latter wrong.

I torque everything but I use common sense,if it feels wrong it probably is.
