Default Tallboy VS SunDowner

I think I need a tallboy seat on my 2006 Softail Standard since I'm 6' 1" and you like to get one; however, I haven't heard too much about the comfort. Does anyone know how they compare to the sundowners? I've heard allot of good things about them or is there another seat that would take care of the extra leg room and back side comfort? Thanks everyone.

Well, all I can say is I'm 6'1" and bought a Tallboy so the better half would have a better pillion on the back. But it's now For Sale because I sat way to high, I bought the Sundowner and I'm very happy.

If you're short and want to sit higher = Tallboy.
If you're tall and want to sit lower = Sundowner.

They both were comfortable, it's all about your legs!

PM me if you want a good deal on a Tallboy (this one fits the Deluxe but I think it works on all Softails).

I tried the TallBoy out while at the dealer last week. I'm 6'5" and need as much leg room as possible. So after installing a floorboard extension kit (Bubbas Brakes) I put the TallBoy seat on. Yes, it stretched the legs out more but what got my attention was how high it sits you. I don't want to be any higher in the saddle since most of my height is in my upper torso so I have opted for the Badlander which apparently will sit you down and back a little. I will say that the TallBoy was comfy. IMO the Sundowner is plain ugly, more so than the TallBoy.

I agree with dugan about the sundowner being ugly. I have one, and while it is comfortable, it doesnt do much for the appearance of the bike.

I have a 2006 Night Train and use the new Sundowner Fatboy Style 2007 seat and I am very satisfied with it. Also I use the control extension from Arlen Ness which gave me 3" more leg room. I did not like the Tallboy because is too high and have not enough backside. Also I had to think of my wife's comfort and this was the best choice.

Just received my 2007 Fatboy style Sundowner for my FLSTSC. It's awesome! Very comfortable and drops you about 1.5 to 2 inches lower. I realize the look with the very padded passenger portion may not be for everyone, but this one's staying on my bike.

I tried out a tallboy at the dealership one weekend and didn't care for the seat height/appearance. I'm 6'3" (mostly legs) and I swapped out my stock FXST seat for a badlander...it looks better on the bike, keeps me low in the saddle, and is IMO a more comfortable seat than the stocker. I'm not really cramped on my bike, but a set of 3" forward controls would be a welcome addition.

So it sounds to me that the tallboy gives you the extra leg room by moving you back a few inches but just sits you too high. I don't think I want that. I want the extra leg room for sure but don't want to sit too high though. Maybe I will head to the dealer to sit on one, if they have one installed. Thanks everyone.

I put the Sundowner on my Deluxe and I find its very comfortable for long rides. The back support is great and of course that is the part that makes the Sundowner not quite as attractive, the high back. I suspect the Sundowner is a better fit for our shorter riders.

I have a sundowner for sale that is off my friends 05 Fatboy if anyone is interested. Make you a deal you can't refuse! See it on page two of the parts for sale forum.
