Default Carburetor or Fuel Injection

Have an oppertunity to by a 2000 Fatboy for a pretty good price but it's not fuel injected. Also could buy a 2002 Fatboy with fuel injection for about 2000 bucks more. The 2002 has about 5000 more miles. Is the fuel injection worth th $2000? Would like some pros and cons. Thanks

They both will work fine if tuned properly. You can mess up EFI just about as easily as a carb. For a savings of $2000 and less mileage I think I would go with the 2000.

That'll give you some extra funds to do your own personal mods and tune it the way you want.

couldnt have said it better......

My buddy has a 2003 (Carb) and I have a 2010 EFI. He saus he wishes he had EFI when I asked why, he said "because your mod's are easier with the EFI" I have to rejet my carb etc...

It's 6 one way and half a dozen the other. If set up right BOTH are great and will run amazingly!

The Injected is nicer when starting out cold, no choke to screw with, but if you plan to keep it for a long time the carb may be less trouble years later. Mine and my OL's are both carbed and never had to re-jet with exhaust mods but if I were to do bigger cams or something yeah you'd have to re-jet.

I'm from the "KISS" group and prefer carbs to EFI......just too damn much electronic things to go wrong with EFI. It is very easy and inexpensive to tune a carb, but there are as many people who love EFI as there are in the carb crowd. Personally, I'd save the $2,000 and buy the 2000 Fat Boy.
