2007 fxst wtf!!??!!??
I test rode a used FXST in my area with less than 1600 miles on the clock assuming for the asking price it was well worth it, then the fun began. While initially the bike seemed to vibrate at an acceptable level under load going through the gears i thought the transmission was going to jump out of the frame!! Is this common? The gentleman selling the bike was very polite and even stated that the vibration is common for 07 softails....is this true? How bad do the counterbalanced motors vibrate or is this more of a transmission issue?
Hey man thanks for the reply, how would you rate the overall vibration of your bike? Do you have noticiable vibration when accelerating in 5th or 6th gear?
The thinking behind the B engine is that it is smoother at idle but my '07 Heritage is smooth in all gears up to 80 and a little beyond. I agree with JY Kelly (is that a play on KY Jelly?...I get it!). Get a carfax or something comparable to see if it's been in an accident? Second thought, move on. Lotsa nice used bikes out there.
The B motors are smooth from idle right on up over 80 mph (very little vibration) As others have stated, and as an owner of an '06, THIS IS NOT NORMAL... I've ridden TC "A" models but never owned one. That rocking at idle thing and various RPMs I found annoying. I liked my rigid mount Evo better than those rubber mounted band aid motors. The TC B is the most sophisticated motor, because it uses counter balancers, like almost every other Mfg'er uses. HD kept the A motor so they wouldn't have to redesign the frames on the Dyna and FLH lines. Softails with the counter balanced motors TC "B" are smooth as Jack D. He has a big problem with it and is trying to sell it...walk away.
