For some reason I assumed the dealer wouldn't do this, especially since I'd be trying to talk them down in price. But you're right, it doesn't hurt to ask I'll definitely try it.
Besides, if I'm looking at a 2010, I bet the dealer giving up the bike would be all too happy to get it off their floor.
I rode a 2010 wide glide at a demo day and ended up with a 2010 custom as my first harley - the rake is very similar but you might find the softail puts you in a slightly different riding position. It'll still get rounds the corners pretty well and just eats up the miles. Couldn't be happier with FXSTC, it's a comfortable bike at stock, but I'll be throwing some apes on it next, changing the seat to something with a lower profile and putting some progressives on. It's a classic harley out of the factory ... and if you like the chrome I think it's a bike you'll be happy with for a long time. I've no plans on getting rid of mine ... maybe adding something else to the stable, but certainly no second thoughts compared to the FXDWG.
Sweet, thx. Always good to hear from someone who has ridden both the bikes I was lookin at. Gonna go talk to the dealer tonight and see what can be arranged...
I've done the 3 Sisters in the Texas Hill Country with mine. I was surprised at how much I was able to lean it through some of those twisties. It'll do pretty much what you want it to do. Just remember, it ain't no sportbike.
