Default Night Train Fuel tank
Fuel Tank on ebay, How can you tell if it is FI or Carb? Or is their a difference?

EFI tanks do not have a traditional petcock.

EFI tanks also have a large opening on the top for the fuel pump which the carb models don't have. Starting in 04 the tanks are interchangeable, just the petcock is needed for carb models.

Hi No not in the 01 and later. the difference is in the dash, if carb there is a filler plate for the dash. thanks

I may be wrong about the year, but if it has this opening it is FI. If they have a plate to cover it, you can use it on carb if you can install a petcock.

This tank came off an 01 carb model, not the greatest angle.

Here it is.

Hi you will be bidding on a set of tanks and fenders off a 2001 Harley Davidson Heritage Softail. They have about 2000 miles on the bike. They are used but in really good shape. There are a few chips in the paint but not so bad that they cant be buffed out. The tank is for carb or fuel injected.

yeah, it definatly came off a FI model, I would call the dealer and ask them if you can get the "plate" to cover the hole and see if they have a petcock to fit it.
