How does this unit mount? I am looking for a backrest that will fit with the New Solo reach seat from hd for my wifes Softail Deluxe. She doesn't like the look of the Firehouse one, says it sits too high, but the Grasshopper looks like it might fit the bill if I can mount it on this bike. Any photos of the mounting would be greatly appreciated

Sorry I found this thread so late...
I have one of those back rests, I got for $45 on EBAY. I have about 2000 miles riding with it.

Yes, it the chrome back plate is bent all wrong. I had to remove it from the bike and place it in my vice (with rubber jaw guards) and adjust it literally about 6 times before I got all the angles just right. It was somewhat nerve wracking because I did not want to screw up the chrome.

After all this the back rest works great. I far prefer riding with it now that I am used to it.

The top of the cushion is already starting to show wear. Since I have short legs, I grab my foot and carry it over the seat when mounting the bike. Therefore I guess it is my back is causing the wear. I plan to buy a new surplus Mustang back rest cushion today at my indy for $20 and adapt it to the chrome back rest mount.

Was this back rest a quality product? No.
Did I get my money's worth? Maybe (Did anyone really think this was top quality item like Mustang or Saddleman for the price they charge?)

Anyhow thats my take on it.

Do you happen to still have the link where you bought that on ebay? or know the seller?
Thanks for the review of this. Much appreciated.

I recieved mine last Fri. was out of town all weekend so I installed today. As PF Wiz said the bracket wasn't bent to the correct angles so I did the same as him. I do like the support of the back rest. I'll have to agree with PF Wiz the quality matches the price. Someone in their fab dept. does need to learn how to bend the steel to the correct angles.

I got mine and returned it, the angle of the backrest pushed me too far forward and it was apparent the angle was very uncomfortable. You pay for what you get, cheap is not the way to go.

i ordered one for my deluxe from a company called calvary customs, the pad was cheesy but i ordered a hd one to match my seat and just drilled couple of holes in it to adapt it, it is pretty heavy duty and has held up great, its black powdercoated and not chrome
