That's actually my point...
I would have an extra fender, struts AND seat for about the same costs if I look hard enough...
I want the ability to change up the look occasionally.
I just need to know from someone in the know, if it can actually be done with the setup I have now.
Will the tire fit under the frame, do I really need the frame horns that were cut off, etc...
Somebody must have done it at one point or another... :-)
If your keeping the 180 tire that would not work with a stock or near stock width fender.Stock fenders are in the 7.25 range.Your bike came with a 130 or150 tire can't remember which. You need at least an 8.5 in. fender to fit the 180 under it.You can get a fender with struts built in on eBay for 300 or so.That might be the easiest way to get a stock seat to work for the times you need it.
That might just well be the way to go...I'll look into it.
I was told that the 180 would fit, but I really didn't think it would...
The search begins...LOL
And yes, it is kinda rediculous to take the heartland off, that was one of the selling points for me... :-)
But the boss has her views too... ;-)
If I'm readin your post correctly you just need to ability for your wife to have a seat for you to ride together. If so, check out the butty buddy - http://www.buttybuddy.com/
It works over an existing seat or in lue of a seat it comes with suction cups to mount to the fender. Just a thought and a whole lot cheaper.
Well, yes and no... I kinda wanna go to the stock setup as well...
I just got a "phantom pad" and am waiting on my rear pegs do that's covered...
It's just that with the short rear fender, it's kinda dangerous with the wheel so close to the... hmmmm butt. ;-)
I'm thinkin it's a whole lot safer and more comfortable with the bigger fender and a real 2-up seat.
you know you might be right.According to the Metzler chart a 180-55-18 on a 5.5 rim is 7.08".
