I`m looking to replace the factory rear signal lights on our `05 FXSTI.The few that I looked at say that they will only fit up to `02 models.I really like the strut mounts that Kuryakyn sells, but again, only up until`02.Whats everyone using,or are you guys keeping them stock??Thanks,Mark.
Has to do with the way the rear fender mounts on the '03 and newer Softails. The '02 and older Softails had bolts with nuts inside the fender. '03 and newer use a plate with treaded inserts that go inside the struts.
You can probably make the '02 and earlier strut mount signals work by removing the bolting plate and replacing with nuts and bolts. Just be sure the studs do not go in to far as to hit the rear tire.
Here's a couple from the side. The hardware is for the removable sissy bar. If you didn't have that they just moust on the fender strut bolt and they cover the last two holes in the strut.
Dang didn't realize she was so dirty till I started snapping pics!!
