Yes, the 07' seat is different. Better? I don't know yet. It appears to be an improvement with a tailbone detent in the seat. The passenger seat doesn't provide as much back support for the driver in my opinion. May be a toss-up.

Answering some of your questions:
1) No, the FatBoy bars are not the '07 (internally wired) ones - they are essentially '06 spec bars. The '07 bars are larger diameter and this would have meant different risers etc.
2) The reach to the FatBoy bars is fine - no real stretch at all. Width of bars, tip to tip, is about 34"
3) HONUS: Really interested in your PO edition Heritage - we don't get that model in the UK. Any chance of a picture? As you say, my pinstriping is grey

I read somewhere that a new Harley owner got up the next morning and had to check his garage to see if the bike was really there and he wasn't dreaming. Its somethin special ain't it
