Default Frame / VIN Number

Need some help identifying a bike. I recently looked at a Harley Softail for sale that I found on the net. It appeared to be an old customized EVO Softail with an S&S engine. I was going to run the VIN from the frame to identify original make and model but discovered that the frame number is not in the Harley format.

What I found is: SUN54879103822295

Can anyone shed some light on this?

Your frame is a Sundance Softail frame. Sundance is no longer in business.

SunDance was made in Florida (I think) anyway it is a replica frame and doubt that it has a H-D Tittle.

Default VIN's

As one poster said RUN, RUN RUN away. Obviously it is a reconstructed or a salvaged bike and I am willing to bet you will have a difficult time getting it titled. Maybe not, but I wouldn't take the chance. Just my $.02

Default Need help to identify a 1949 FL with plunger frame?

I came across a 1949 Harley with plunger frame seems original:
Engine number 49e13091
frame: fb 002860s it is for my fried so numbers can be mixed up but not prefix and suffix
Is this original ? is the suffix s means softtail in 1949
if so how many made and for what purpose
Thanks
Jacob

I don't think the softail came around until the 80's.

The "el" means it was originally a 61 cubic inch engine. The frame numbers are simply production numbers numbers and have nothing to do with the bike's Vehicle Identification Number as HD didn't put VIN on the frame until about 1970.
