Had the HQ034(www.protwin.com) in mine when it was stock. Much more down low and pulled real well all the way through, didn't have that typical drop off. Since went on to a full 95"HQ kit and the cams went to a bud of mine for his 88" stocker.
I would just wait till you do it... Pipes gotta come off and no you do not need to drain the oil... Oil will come out but not all of it... When I did mine the indy said run it around a little after the cams were installed then dump the oil to let the old filter catch all the dust if any from openning it up.
I bought all the parts I needed on ebay... after reading up on what it would take... then had my indy do the install... walked away with a total of $950... S&S gear drive, Andrews cams, andrews "EZ install" adjustable push rods, S&S install kit. BTW I did score the install kit and the gear drive from a forum member which is included in the $950. Most Inday will charge for about 4 or 5 hours on a job like this.
