I need to adjust my rear shock, and cant figure out which is the jam nut you have to loosen. Is it the one at the shock or at the end of the shaft at the mount?
Once you get it loose, you need to use a pin spanner to rotate the plate (Both shocks) an equal number of turns in (Raise/Firmer) or out (Lower/Softer)....
Once you have done both shocks, then you tighten the nuts back to the plates.....
I have to asume all softails are the same. The jam nut is located right in front of the shock. For less than $10 you can buy the spanner wrench from a dealer. Just make sure that you adjust them equally. I used some chaulk to mark them than turned one side at a time. (turned and tightened jam nut, than did the other side) I would advise you to purchase a service manual also. Best money I ever spent.
