I put my bike on the jack to change all the fluids at the same time. It allows a slight tilt to the rear and the oil drains well. Tranny plug is up between the shocks and requires an extension to reach. I change all my fluids at 2500 miles not the 5000 as specified in the manual. Running the stock Harley oils sold at the dealer. 20-50 for the engine and Harleys tranny oil for both tranny and primary.
Marz. Why don't you ask your next-door neighbor? Doesn't he have a badass Harley? You know, that good looking guy with that black and white Duluxe? Just kidding bro!! We should just get a shop manual, bro; and don't pay attention to that smart-*** response from "bluelips".
His post was a joke to begin with......................Probably rides a Jap bike and was here just F-ing around with the HD guys. Take a look at how many other posts he has.
Hey bluelips! Did you ever have a ligitimate question about your bike? This forum is to assist our Harley family. So what if it's someone's first post. Every single one of us had a "first" question. Yeah, we all had japanese bikes, and now have American bikes with Mexican-made parts.
Anyway. Let's be more proactive and helpful. OK? "lapisblue!?"
chilango13, I really don't think he was serious. I didn't think it was a serious question, thats why I replied the way I did. People come in here all the time and make one wacky post , chuckle at the replies, and leave.
Hey MARZ, I called LA Harley, hommies, and they told me they were getting some manuals either tomorrow or Sat. I'll pick one up and we'll work on your "black beaty" weekend bro.
Hey Lapsiblue, don't sweat it man. I thought your reply was freekin funny. Yeah maybe his first post was to break the ice and was a bit goofy to some of us but in my opinion most bikers have a good sense of humor and for those who don't well, who wants to hang with someone who can't take a joke.
Oh my!! I can't take a joke! Boo Hoo!! Please Jack! I thought it was funny too, dawg. However, where was the Fu..in' technical advice as a follow up? That's right!! Uh huh!
Tons of people can benefit from what may seem a "goofy" question. Why don't you do us all a f#$@in' favor and tell us the easiest way to do 1000 mile , oil change service. I bet you can save $350 to every person who reads your technical, and practical advice. That would be f@#$in' awesome; Instead of just cracking a joke with out any kind of help.
Now, If you choose to continue to be off topic, there is always a forum here for talking off topic.
That's right. A whole bunch of us can save $350 (Harley Dealers). That's whole lot of Fu%$in' money.
Just an opinion, but what the man described about taking a plug out and getting a small amount of oil is exactly what would happen if he pulled one of the plugs on the bottom of the engine instead of the oil drain plug at the bottom of the frame.
This question has been asked more than once by people just starting to do their own service, and just because he only had one post, I would bet that he is ligit. He is ligit. enough to describe something that has happened to others, and seems to be a pretty common mistake when trying to change oil without the service manual.
Again, just an opinion, and I'm glad that he got enough answers to maybe get his problem solved.
