I am getting up and cleaning the bike off for its first show in the am. Warg is coming over to detail and enter also so any tips would be greatly accepted.. Thanks Rob
ya, is it a ride in show or will it be a judged show? In a ride in show just have it as clean as possible, let the bike be what it is, you have a good looking bike, no matter what goes down be happy with your bike. secondly shows donn't always have anything to do with the best bike. favorite colors, styles of bikes at the time, all play more than construction, paintwork detail, amounts of money spent, don't let it get you down. if they have bimbo's judging (girls that know nothing about bikes) you better have a "pretty" color bike if you want to win, if you keep going to these events, you will lose to lesser bikes, not fair, just happens. my best advise is to enjoy the people looking at your bike, stand close by to point out special features that the uneducated eye won't see, be gracious, and enjoy the moment, hope you do well and you will learn from just being there, It is fun for the first ones, it does get old but enjoy the moment
I agree with heycharlie. Cleanliness is next to......well you know.
Seriously, attention to detail will pay off. Break out the Q-tips and get every area you can see. And another trick is if you can, park at the end of the row so it is an eye catcher, instead of burying it in the middle of all the other bikes.
I have won a first, second and third place trophy with the FB so far. Ii won the first place trophy about three weeks ago against a very nice Heritage. I think the attention to detail is what won it. Good luck with your show.
your bike looks great! make sure it's clean in all places especially the wheels. spokes are hard to clean but they stand out. park bike at an angle so it's different from the other bikes. enjoy being there, have a good time knowing your bike is yours and it's great looking. if you win great if not you still had a great time. good luck to a brother fireman.
