Are there any big guys here that ride softails and want to strech out your legs, but dont want to spend your hard earned cash on Floorboard extentions? Here is your solution...

The only money I spent on this was the cost of Harleys small universal brake pedal cover part# 42710-04 and a cut off wheel.

The first step was the easy one, on the left side of the bike remove the front shift peg and both shift levers, turn the front shift lever around and reinstall the levers and shift peg so you end up with this...

Now the semi-difficult part. You will need to remove the stock large rubber brake pedal cover and end up with this...

Now that cut off wheel comes into play. You will need to cut here...

So you end up with a pedal that looks like this...

Then you add the pedal cover and end up with this...

You do not need to remove the pedal from the bike in order to cut it. I didn't.

And thats it! Now you can strech your legs all the way out to the end of the boards and even hang them off the end! It is soooo much more comfortable.... And cheap!

Mike

P.S. For all of you smart guys out there, You are stuck having to do this modification to your pedal, because the FX softail style brake pedal will not work with floorboards due to its curvature. So dont waste your money..

Any part # for that?

O.K. This is what I did after alot of homework and it worked for me. I'm 6'-4" with 36" inseam which happens to suck because my legs are too long for almost everything. Now before I continue I would like to plug the harley goodies kit. I've put them on some friends bikes and they are great. I felt that the Kuryakyn kit that moves the boards out 1" and forward 1" was better for me. The reason was I also put the Kuryakyn cruise arms IV on. Now the extra 1" outwards is great for everyone as it gives us all alittle more room to move around. The extra 1" forward for me was great but only because of the cruise arms. The cruise arms let me rest my heel on the boards and my toes on the arms. Fits me really well. I personally don't like the engine gueard with the highway pegs so this was the best for me. If you were going to install an engine guard it probably wouldn't be best for you. I felt that if you move the boards too far forward then you have to move way back to hit the brake pedal. I will admit that i'm still llokingt for the perfect solo seat that will move me back an inch or so with a back rest. But that's my issue. Good luck.

Another option is banana boards which are way bigger than stock boards. They come in two sizes, 14" and 19".

I just hang my feet off the front of the floorboards. But then again im only 5'8" on a good day so that might be easier for me than anyone tall. Im just wondering if it would make the positioning of the controls in an awkward spot. Putting my boards farther outward would scrape them a lot more for sure (im pretty sure after I finish the dragon next weekend im going to have a hole in the right side). I get nervous that my bike is going to kick into another gear when I flip the left floorboard up as well... anyone have issues with that before?

Im either moving the boards up sometime in the future or getting forward controls.

I might have to look at the Kurry relocation kit as the HD one does not seem to fit Fatboys!

I have the HarleyGoodies extensions to push them out a bit but I want them further forward. I am going with this: http://www.jpcycles.com/product/550-230

I figure 2" forward plus that 1 1/2" out from the HG kit will work just fine. I just need to figure out what brake line I will have to get to extend the rear brake line.

Ahhh! Those JP ones are interesting. I am keen to see how you go with that, because that looks exactly what I am looking for.
