How many of you are running unpadded grips? I've been wanting to change my grips out, and I love some of the metal grips, but wonder about longer rides and them being uncomfortable? I really like the edge cut grips, but don't want to spend the money on something that's going to be uncomfortable on longer trips other than to and from work, and just down to the local watering hole. Any input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance......
I have the Tribal grips on my Night Train. They are bigger than the stock grips and very comfortable. I can tell you having lived in Phx and S. CA that having some rubber on the grips will be a lot cooler in the hot sun than have just a metal grip. Other wise you might want to invest in some nice gloves after the first time you grab the grips after the bike has been setting out in the sun.
I put on the "spike" grips that you see on ebay, and love how they look. They're all chrome, and totally smooth. Killed my hands on the first long run, and they're cold in the spring and fall. I wanted to keep the spike look, so i took some hockey tape (white to match the bike) and filled in the center part of the grips, which were ti narrow to start with, and now I love them. Sounds tacky, but I actually get a lot of compliments on them.
Silencer grips. Actually put some blood, sweat and near tears putting them on. Mine dont ever really get hot but they are definitely harder than the rubber. Nothing a nice set of gloves cant handle.
