Great choice, new Deluxes. I would be sneaking out the wifes new 07 since it has the six speed tranny and the 96 in engine.
Suggest you watch the handling and if you have any scraping have the shocks firmed up a bit. I had 5K on the clock of my Deluxe and just did a shock adjustment and it made the bike like a new machine. Handles better, takes the bumps better and doesn't scrap the floorboards as easy. The stock Deluxe is only 4.8 in above the ground, so be carefull in the corners.
So far I have yet to scrape. I have even tried to scrape and havent. But I will be careful.
I just want to find its limit so I will know. Next up, Bassani 2 in 1 Road Rage exhaust and PCIII on board, download and dyno tune. Wife's sounds fine right outta the box. Mine sounds like a sewing machine. Yeah, with the Bob you had to really be attached to the look cuz thats about all there is over the deluxe, that is, if you are really tied to the Bob's look. Other than that I have found no advantage to the Bob in practical terms. But thats the beauty of HD's and the freedom to choose. Different strokes for different folks. My deluxe was traded in by her previous owner for a Night Train. He was only 5'4"...I sat on the Night Train and wondered why he did it since I could barely tippy toe it and I'm 5'8". Why would someone trade down? And I'm talking financially, not dissing the Train. He initially bought the deluxe cuz it fit him, so I will always wonder why he traded for the train unless it was for pure aggression for the twisties, or peer pressure. Or, just the look of the Train.
