I did this just last week on my 05 standard. I used a triple tree and fork tubes from a 97 FB. The sliders are 2000-06 FLS type. I used my 21" DNA wheel and original caliper. It was a very easy install.
that is exactally what i am looking for. do you have to change the tripple trees? could i just drill new hole and tap the to fit the nacelle and fork tubes? and do i need to get new lower legs or can i just get the upper covers? thanks
You will need a fat boy triple tree, it is different from a FXST tree. Drilling and tapping holes for the tins won't work. The fork tubes and sliders are different lengths also. You can use your FXST wheel and axle, but you may need different size spacers. Your best bet is finding a complete fatboy front end minus wheel and caliper. I bought a chrome set of fatboy 2000-06 lower sliders so I could use my original 05 brake caliper. You will need a different fender also. You can buy a new five piece tin set for a little over 100 bucks or spend around 800 for a new nacelle, light bar with passing lights and turn signals, etc. Nothing hard to do this ,just make sure you have the correct parts.
