I am in the process of getting work done on my Fatty,,,,what is the price I can expect for a head job. i was quoted $700.00 for the job, which I was also told it was less than buying the SE heads.
Thanks

There are many different options out there for heads. SE performance heads are less than $700. SE HTCC ported heads can be over $1000. $700 would more likely be in between somewhere.
There are lots to consider when deciding what you want out of the heads. The SE Perf heads have larger valves and decreased combustion chamber size. IMO, the larger valves are not needed in the 88-103 ci range of builds. The larger valves lend themselves to higher RPM horsepower and not to lower RPM torque. The SE Perf heads bump compression as well (reduced combustion chamber size) and this is where you get the gains from them.
Generally the higher dollar port jobs include larger valves, heavier springs etc... Big Boyz Street Heads are a full port job utilizing stock valve components. The ports are reshaped for improved flow but retain stock size valves to help keep the velocity up, this in turn helps with lower RPM torque. When using a bolt in cam, springs typically don't need to be replaced. In fact needlessly using heavier springs can cost you power. We do offer a variety of springs to accommodate higher lift cams but feel this is typically unnecessary in a good reliable street build. We do a complete performance port job for $299.
