Default Too much rain??

I rode about two hours on Saturday, on the highway, in a very hard rain. I didn't have any problems with the bike, but it made me wonder, how much rain is too much??

I have a '05 Heritage with the standard AC cover.

I had a metric sport bike once that did bog down in the rain and needed the filter dried before it would run well again.

Anybody had a problem with rain with our bikes??

haven't had the chance to ride in the rain with my softail yet. but with the sportster I had before I rode year round as that was my only transportation. rode in some very windy and hard rainy days, had to drive through puddles that was just barely touching the bottum of the frame at times, never had a problem. except those freaken waterproof boots weren't very waterproof, but they were cheap and non harley equipement. I say ride until you need some flotation device.

Have been through semi-tropical rain of biblical proportions for hundreds of miles...not even a hiccup, cough, or any other problem. Bike is stock 'cept for an H-D oil cooler, stop/turn sig module and Road Tech radio. H-D rain gear works well ($100 self-storing) but can't stop water going UP the leg...I don't have the booties so that's understandable.

When my '04 heritage was new, about 1,000 miles, I rode in a hard rain on the highway. I've had moisture in the speedo ever since.

I have an 05 Deluxe, and the only problem I've encountered in the rain was the toggle switch for the auxiliary lamps got wet. That caused both filaments on the lamps to blow, as well as the fuse. I replaced the lamps and fuse, then applied a bunch of the liquid electrical tape on the back of the switch. I've ridden in the rain since and haven't had any problems.

me and 8 other guys went to a rally last friday. drove 5 hours in the rain, and the next day i noticed the horn wouldn't work. checked the other bikes, and of the 6 harleys, we need 6 horns... other than that, no problems.
