Sorry about not posting for the last few days, I've been busy with school and work.

I have thought about this for quite some time and have decided to follow the advice of some here and look for a 2007 or newer Fatboy. I'm hoping to find one for around 12k with a few add ons.

Thanks to everyone who offered their advice, It was a tough decision with all the different directions available, but I feel the best route to go was with the factory 200 tire and bolt the rest on.

Now the search begins.

Still not too late for the Heritage. A big tire is nice, but saddlebags, windshield, comfortable seat and backrest are more practical, if especially if you travel or often ride two-up.

Ditto, you wait long enough and shop long enough and you will find something that meets your budget along with getting a 200 rear and above mentioned. In my opinion your really recreating the wheel here when you could just buy what your looking for.

I'd go with the Heritage to start with.

Heritage comes with windshield and bags, and has laced wheels that have to have tubes.

Fatboy comes without a shield and bags, and solid wheels you can run tubeless.

You can take the shield and bags off the Heritage to make it more 'Fatboyish.'

You can find some used Fatboy wheels on the cheap on ebay if you want to run your tires without tubes.

To me the Heritage is the better choice.

KISS

Why choose...

I found an 07 Fatboy (6.5K miles)

...added the stuff (all detachable)...

...and even with a 3-year warranty it was still cheaper than the dealer was selling an 09 Heritage with 21K miles.
