Default Possible Trade In.

I am possibly upgrading to another bike- I plan on trading in, would it be better to pull all my after markets stuff off or does it even matter? Does the dealer take into account the add ons when giving a value?

Thanks for the advice.

Definately definately strip all your upgrades, i know from experience they take it into zero consideration, in addition to that statement they dont even usually care how bad of shape its in. i have traded in bikes and cars with serious issues and never had an issue getting what the blue book says... strip it!!!!!!!

Good question actually. I would say dont even worry about taking stuff off you couldnt use with another bike and throw in the stock items if you have them with the deal and see what you get (which probably wont be a lot) that way you dont have to waste time taking off parts and putting on parts.... but on the other hand.

I could see how taking the time to put the stock parts back on and keeping what you can use for your new ride could help... could always sell the aftermarket stuff online or trade someone for some stuff you can use for the new ride. Selling anything aftermarket is a hard deal for a regular guy so make the best of what you got I guess. Good luck!

Most stuff dont matter. Pipes may make a small difference but overall...pull it.

Sell the bike yourself on Craigslist or whatever. I just sold my Sportster for almost $2000 more than any dealer was offering. They wouldn't budge over Blue Book but the bike had TONS of extras on it. I didn't have to take anything off and sold it in 2 days on Craigslist. Worth it. Don't do a trade in if they won't give you anything for the extras.

Pipes, bags and a windshield make a difference. The rest add nothing at trade-in time.
