How difficult is it to add the Harley Security system to a new bike? I currently have a 2007 Softail Custom, but am leaning towards a 2011 Softail Heritage. My Custom came with the factory security system pre-installed and I added the siren kit myself...that was pretty easy.
If the bike does not come from the factory with the security system pre-installed, how difficult is it to buy it and install it yourself?
I bought mine after I bought the bike, dont remember what it cost though. I installed it (pretty much plug and play) myself, but the directions I looked up to "program" it didnt work and left my bike unable to start. So I removed it and put it back to stock, rode it down to the dealer and reinstalled it in the parking lot....then had to pay them to program the computer. They charged me a hours worth of labor for the 15 mins or so they had my bike.

Thanks;
With the 2011 models, the Security System and ABS come as a package. The computer "brain" is different on the 2011's.
Not sure if you can add the Security System by itself.

Well, I ended up with a 2011 Heritage, Yellow/Chrome. I also found out that the security system can be installed after the fact (without ABS), but the dealer needs to set up the FOB's. They gave me 10% off the part and did not charge any labor...they did it the day I bought the bike. I also kept one of the FOBS from my 2007 and they reprogrammed that for me as well. I also kept the remote for the siren kit.
I will add the siren kit (they would have also done that for me as well, but did not have the part in stock) when I get back to Florida in November.
