"Our motorcycle-riding governor clearly recognizes that a few bad apples on our roads are infringing on the rights of others with their illegal, attention-seeking loud pipes," said SB 435 author Sen. Fran Pavley (D-Agoura Hills) in a news release issued Tuesday.

I am certain that motorcyclist would not need to seek attention if other drivers were paying attention.

Go figure a Dem would say something so stupid...
After some thinking about my rep, LOL, I decided I had to speak up, and I know what the reactions most likely will be.
First of all, I love my Harley and it is louder then stock. When I leave my house I shift quickly, keep the noice down while I am in my neighbourhood, or any neighbourhood for that mather.
It is like music, I don't want to hear my neighbours. I have personally visited some of my fellow neighbourhood riders and asked them to keep it down in the hood with mixed reactions if you know what I mean.
Their are laws on the books that deal with noice polution, they should be enforced.
The number of "loud" bikes has increased dramattically in the last decade and the attention we have received because of it was to be expected.
All that said, there was no reason for this new law, but we should all take responsibility for our actions.

Ride safe !

Now that was a good Idea...

I'm not in the states or know your laws, they're bad enough here lol...but least so far I've been left alone with my V+H Big Radius but take chances when I go over the border to Germany..

Someone who knows more should open a thread on this forum apposing the laws or at least give an opinion then ask everyone to give a short reply to sign the thread then send the link when theres a trillion sigs on it

Whatever happens in Cali will spread to other states yeah ? so it effects all motorcyclists everywhere there.

Feel sorry for all the after market exhaust suppliers that are going to wind up on the street..thats just for starters..

Not surprised of the outcome with Herr Schwarzenegger..he's turned politician and as we all know they suck up to majorities to get votes and keep their jobs.

The law, which goes into effect for motorcycles and aftermarket parts from the 2013 model year forward, states that motorcyclists pulled over for other traffic violations could also be cited for illegally noisy exhaust pipes.
Glad I have a 2010.......I would like to see what motorcycle sales look like 1/01/13, I would imagine it will be bleak at best. Good job Arnie, you just single handedly put several AMERICAN businesses out of business, and cost thousands their jobs.

I think an organized ride to the state capitol is in order, the are still a government for the people by the people right? When are the over taxed citizens of this state going to take back what is theirs?

Sheeple of California WAKE UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They want to destroy you. Don't you get it yet? You only have yourselves to blame though. I thought Democrats were the party of "yes." The last time I checked, regulation means "no". As in you can not do this or that. Kick these idiots out of office. Come on, November is right around the corner. I challenge you to do something "radical". Vote them out!!!!!

I agree, this shop owner is out of touch with his customer base.. I wonder if he would actually refuse to sell someone a set of drag pipes.. I doubt it, he would change his tune if it involves money, these people are just looking for a way to increase ticket revenue by giving fines for "noise pollution"..
