Default crooked tank

Does anyone else seem to have a fuel tank that sits crooked?
My 2005 Deluxe fuel tank has crooked mounting wings on the front.
They both slant to the right! making the tank shift left.
Fickin drives me nuts going down the road!
any ideas?
How do I staighten them without trashing paint?

Default RE: crooked tank

HD will tell you that the tanks are not symetrical, giving the illusion that either your handlebars are not straight, or you tank is not straight. When I took delivery of my bike, looking across the tank and through the handlebars made me think the bars were not straight. Took it to the dealer, who said that all was well, so I called the MoCo who informed me that their tanks are not built symetrical. If your tank is in fact mounted improperly, I would return the bike to your dealer and B!^&.
