Decided to rip into it today and do the bars. It took four hours start to finish. After it was all bolted up I threw the switch on and hit the start button and NOTHING! Checked the fuses and one was shot. I replaced the fuse and tried again and again the fuse blew. After a few f-bombs, walking away and having a beer I knew I had to get back into it to find the short. I lucked out by looking in the throttle housing first and there it was, a wire pinched and shorted out where it goes into the bar. After a quick repair job it is done. I like the look of the street slammers but must say that after only a quick ride around the block it does feel a bit weird compared to the factory bars but I will get used to it. Thank you all for the info.

So did all of the original throttle and clutch cables, wires, and brake line fit?

Yes everything fit. You actually need smaller cables/lines than stock. Over the winter I will swap out for the chromlite stuff.

Great info, Im in the middle of pulling off my bars and geting everything that is chrome powdercoated black. I just slid my tank back and had more then enough room to get at the plug. I cut all my wires and now Im gonna start soldering everything back together. Im not sure if that is the best way to do it but thats what Im going with.

I tried to pull the connectors apart also and to use a pin to set the wires free but I ended up cutting and soldering also. Real easy job to do, just use shrink tubbing!
