I've always gotten around 48 mpg. Once in a while I'll get up to 53 mpg. But I fill up when I get to 200 miles on the tank (no fancy fuel lights) - still have a gallon and a half in the tank.

06 Heritage here I guess I'm pretty average with about 170 to 180 a tank depending on the riding. That beats the 19 mpg on my Xterra but even if it didn't I'd still ride as much as I could
My light has not came on but my fuel gauge is close to the Red "E" after 90-100 miles. I usually stop & fill up but it only takes maybe 3.5 gallons. I take it that these fuel gauges are not accurate are they??? 2008 Night Train
Finally got to check my mpg, getting around 42-43 combined.
I would like to mention that those figures are with 10% Ethanol.
The reason I mention this is that I found a station that sells Ethanol free gas near me. http://pure-gas.org/
When I first read some of the info on the site I was skeptical.
The fact I can prove is that if I run Ethanol free I get 6-8 mpg better.
The non-empirical things I have noticed is that my bike feels like it is running smoother, cooler and has a bit more power.
08 Heritage completely stock, - sync oil & Iridium plugs, easy riding mostly in the 60-70 mph range two up, I get mid 50's mpg ( Canadian Gallon ) so probably around high 40's on a US gallon. Warning light comes on around 170 miles.
I just bought the bike and it has 4000 miles, so it may get a bit better but I'm more than happy with the current gas mileage.
