The dealer is going to look at it next week. Said they may need to "ping" the knurled part of the bars to make it grab better and re-torque. I will keep you posted, but it usually takes a couple thousand miles before she slips.

I think I understand the other posts. One is for a set screw installation in the top clamp only, and the other is to redrill botttom clamps. My bottom risers clamps are not stripped, so it looks as if I should do the set screw option. I will mention that to them as well.

Your riser bolts will hold much better if you have them helicoil the risers. You might as well have them do it while you are there. Take it from someone who ahs been there.

Mine don't move around on me but could be the PC on them that helps.... But I just thought I'd throw this in guys on Island here have been telling me they are starting to use pennies... Yup a penny as in 1 cent... Kinda like those machines that used to smash the pennies and imprint something on them, remember?

Anyway I never tried it but just thought I'd share

A lot of this has to do with how tall the bars are and bumps in the road. My bars only slipped when I would hit a large bump and have all my weight on the bars.

Mines are 12.5's Chubby's... I agree with Drew the taller the bars are the more leverage you'll be putting on there. When we did my friends Chris's FatboyLo he has 16's and no probs.

Make sure the bolts are not to long also I've been through that before where they tighten up but do not squeeze the bars properly.

BTW... Drew Thanks for getting Chris's pulley and rotor bolts to me... I got his fatdaddy rims on his bike and it's waiting for him to come home and ride...

Good thread goatdriver even for those of us who don't have 12" apes. I think I'm going to make it a habit to retorque mine every oil change or maybe even sooner. Even thinking about my bars landing in my lap while riding sends a chill up by back.

I have 16"s and went with 1 1/4" Bars with INNER TUBE SQUARES inside the Riser and Locked Tight Glue & Wrenched on the Bars ! I've Never had an Issue with Bars Slippin Ever !

As a Biker Rule for those of us with Ape Bars, Always Tork the Risers at least once a week ... Change out the Riser Bolts at least every 6 months !! If you feel they move more than to often its your Riser Thread or Bar Threads are Stripped - Change it out.

I've been Rockin the 16"s for over 2 1/2 Years on the Bones with No Complaints !!!!

Ride Hard Gentleman,
John Guam USA
