I got a C&C solo seat and was wondering what you use for screws to attach it to the sides of the frame? Do you take the original seat screws off the stock seat and reuse them? Do you buy new ones? Does anyone know the thread and bolt size of the seat bolts. I have an 03 fatboy. Thanks.
I bought a Buttcrack that wasn't really for my bike, had mounting tabs on the sides not at the rear. I removed the plastic plugs that were in the side holes and then got some huge chrome hex bolts and attached the seat that way. Didn't really want to go with the hex, but it was the only chrome bolt available that was big enough to fit the mounting holes.
Had to add a washer behind the tabs too because my frame was narrower than the mounting tabs. I think this particular seat came off a Fatboy.
You can get some nice chrome allen heads at Harley for $20 or so. That is what I did. They were said to only fit EVO's for some reason, but they fit just fine. Some people use the thumb screws like on the back of a 2 piece seat, but I have trouble getting them in all the way.
I drilled/tapped a 1/2 inch allthread to 1/4 /20..
cost zero..( had the allthread in shop)
be sure to radius out the tapped threads for easy starting of the seat screws
