Default Leather Tour-Lock/tour-pak question

Good Evening!

I have a very simple question, that I cannot figure out.

On a leather tour-pak for a soft-tail, such as part number 53690-06A.

I noticed a Leather Tour-Pack Lock 53621-98

Both items btw are on page # 253 of the catelog.

Anyways, how exactly does the lock work? Does it somehow lock the LID from opening also, or does it only lock the box onto the bracket?

Can you please explain, because I would very much like to know if it only locks to the frame, if it also prevents the top from being opened.

I also noticed some of the tour-paks do not have straps such as 53057-07A. What exactly keeps this tour-pak closed, and how do you open it up? is there some hidden switch somewhere, or is it the lock that is keeping it from opening?

Thank You

-Nathan

53621-98 is a tour pak liner in my book. If you're talking about 54360-05 I believe it uses a cable system that goes through the outside wall and mounts to the inside of the tourpak lid. The MoCo is smoking crack if they think I'll pay that kind of money for a $10 lock. Paid enough for their damn pita detachable lock.

Check out http://www.inertiawrx.com/tour.htm for alternative products.

I've rigged a hasp out of zipties and use a luggage lock for my tp. Discourages ****** and grab thefts at reststops or wherever which is about all any of the locks do. I never store anything valuable in the tp anyway so I'm in no big hurry to come up with a more secure solution.
