Oil spot again!!!
My question is, is this something I need to have checked?
Or is this an issue that will fix itself. It seems that if the oil level is a tad too high, as it blows out it will get to the appropriate level?
I want to emphasize, this does not appear to be "leak", it is a small spot on the floor and only happens once in a while. There is no sign of oil blowing back under the bike when I am riding and there is not a big pool of oil on the floor.
You said it was at the very top of the full hot line and you droped the level a couple ounces and the problem was gone and then you added more and the problem was beack then I would say drop it back down. The range stick is jsut as it says, ( a range stick) Yes it should not be at the higher area of the range rather than the lower but range does not mean fill to the top line. I see most that fill to the top line over fill. I say go back to your adjusted level and as long as its at the higher end og the range they you are golden!!!

I noticed a spot under my '04 FatBoy one day after a long ride. Just a small spot and the oil level hadn't dropped at all. I found another spot in my garage several weeks later, again after a long ride. The spot appeared to be somewhere under the inner primary and there was a slight smear of oil on the underside of the primary case as well. Had the dealer look at it while in for service and he found a bad seal somewhere in the inner primay. The dealer fixed it under warranty and I was sure glad that I didn't ignore it since it turned out to be a pretty lengthy repair.
Better to err on the safe side than get blind sided by an expensive repair down-stream. Just my opinion, I could be wrong.

I'd have it checked by the dealer next time you're in for regular service. Since you're still under warranty it sure can't hurt.
