Default Revolution performance 107" kit

With winter coming and a possible bonus at work I have been looking on the web at a motor kit for my bike. I have seen a lot of different kits and brands but the RP 107" is looking good so far. Anyone know anything about this kit? The only thing done to my ride so far is a SE air and V&H big radius with a PC-5.
Also, what cam do I go with? There really are no shops around here to ask other than the dealers but they will say HD all the way. I did look up some maps for the PC-5 so there should be something out there or close.

Call Dave at JD's Cycleworks in Bethlehem Pa. There are probably shops closer to you, but he is great to deal with. He can give you suggestions on what to build based on your budget, riding style, etc. If you do a search, Rev Perf had a lot of problems with some of their kits a few years back. These problems have probably been worked out, but IF it were me, I'd stay clear.

I like the T-Man kits. When I get the money, this is the place I am going to. Check'em out!

so whats the difference between the tman and rp kit to the S&S 106" big bore kit. Even after including the cams your only spending about $1200. I noticed the tman kit was close to $2500. Is there a big difference i am not seeing. thanks,

For a more expensive package you will be getting heads too. It all really depends on what you want out of your build. With a 107 kit and some good cams (I prefer a mild cam for longevity) and a good Dyno you should be close to or at 100/100. Just for reference, just had my bike dynoed as I am sure you are aware at 84/95, and this thing flys. It has never ridden anything like this before. I feel that I really missed out on a lot of performance by not shelling out the money for a quality Dyno.

You could have the heads ported and polished and add some manual compression releases (highly recommended for a 107") $400 or so at Big Boyz. Honestly, if you are going to build the engine you should get an exhaust that will really compliment the build and give more power like a 2 into 1. Everyone knows my choice is the fatcat, but there are plenty of options available. For a cam, get the S/E204 or Andrews 21 or 26. Low end torque is what you want, at least if you are anything like me. My bike has 95 tq at 3500 rpms. It is a tasty setup.

If you are going to build it yourself you can save a bundle. It really is simple stuff.

Yea, I am going to do it myself and will get the heads done also (I hope) but I had a dyno done and the 96" is at 71hp and 85tq now. So I guess it is worth the money to try to get 100/100ish. I am really up in the air on the cams still. Maybe some calls to builders and so on.
As far as the pipes that will be the last thing to do. I know the 2into1 are better but I can still run these pipes and see what the #'s are and change them down the road if I decide to. I don't have the $$$$ for pipes and build and I would rather do the heads while the motor is apart and do the pipes anytime after that.

Talk to some different builders about what you want and listen to their recommendation for cams to match the head work. Like Beau said, Dave at JD's is good as is T-man, and I like what Scott from Hillside did for me.

Hey coroner, there'll be several different suggestions but I did use SE 255's and SE 211's in a 96" bagger with head work and darn good results were obtained. I now use RS 577's in a 103" Heritage and again, great seat of the pants results. All 3 cams worked to my satisfaction and all 3 were used with head work.
Happy decision making.

If I were starting back at square 1 with a 96", I'd either bore my stock cylinders to accept 107" pistons, or buy the S&S 106" kit. I'd probably go with the TW6-6 cam from Bob Wood, and get heads done to match cam. Here's why- that cam performs well from 9.8-10.2:1 compression. So, you can get away with a "low compression" build, and it's only got a .510 lift, so no need for roller rockers, or excess valve train wear.

On the other hand, you can go as big as your budget can afford the 1st time. That way you aren't constantly wanting more. If I'd gone with a strong 107" the 1st time, I would've saved myself a lot of time and $$$.

I used to hear good things about gmrperformance. I think they start with Revolution Performance parts, but don't quote me on that. They do head work too though. The dyno sheets they have for their 107 kits are pushing more like 120/120.
