I too went from a c50 to heritage. Had mostly everything i could have wanted on the c50 so it was time to upgrade. It was like going from a nice compact car to a cadillac.

Default dream come true

Thanks for the welcome and the advice guys. Looks like I'll probably get the 18-inch light-smoked detachable. Leave it on for longer rides, snap it off for shorter trips and bar-hopping. Shave it if I need to.

Rode it literally all day yesterday, my first real day as a Harley owner. There's nothing like that sound -- V&H pipes, Stage 1 kit -- and I have to admit I love the wind-in-your-face feeling and when I was parked on the bar seat, I ignored the women and stared at my bike through the window. The bike was much better-looking.

Repeat today. Man, this is sweet!

now you can tell your metric friends when they ask why, you can say "if you have to ask then you never owned one"

I just installed the 21" detachable Nostalgic clear one on mine last night. After riding without one for years and commuting 100 miles a day, I can tell you it makes a world of difference. And, with the shield being clear, you don't really notice it on the bike...except for the big bright chrome mounting brackets, which are going to be blasted and powder coated black real soon.

yea I don't care much for the windshields either, the highway wind doesn't bother me. the onlything that bothers me is pulling into work. it's in an industrial area, a lot of big rigs throw up dirt and gravel, but still I don't want a windshield, if I ever get to the point of wanting one ( 30 years from now) I think I will go with a fairing instead. on a side note, side wind is worse and you just got to deal with it. I just got back from riding my fatty to Texas and back from Cali, and on I-40 in New Mexico that freaken cross wind is crazy. first time riding threw New Mexico so maybe I just wasn't expecting it and maybe it was the solid wheels on my ride, I don't know but at times I was leaning so far over like I was in the middle of a sharp turn just to stay in a straight line. but gotta love the experiance in the different states.

Prospect, yep, except mine doesn't have those great looking apes. Now you got me thinking of getting some mini-apes. I need to get the bars back a little, maybe beach bars but I love the look of those apes.

Already set up with V and H pipes, stage one. I also might take off the sissy bar, passenger seat etc and leave the rear fender naked as hell.

Plus 1,
ever have a truck spash mud/dirt on your windshield, you will understand looking over it ,
plus the "air/bugs/rocks goes over the top of your head.

when you ride over 80 mph and have no head turbulance, and can see over it , it is the right height
