I would love any input on installing these bars on my 04 fatty. I've seen a few pics of these bars and think they look great. Tips and warnings about installation would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!!!!!!!!![sm=smiley30.gif]
I had them installed on my heritage a few months back. Just wanted to say your making a good choice! Go w/ the braided lines, since you should change them for the install anyway.
Me too.. About decided these are the bars for me.. Stock heritage bars on my 04 fatty at the moment are plenty comfy enough but I want to clean it up, do some chrome controls, internal wiring and braided cables.. I read on another thread a guy said pretty much +6 inches on the cables and I think 46" for the front brake.
I'd like to add to the topic, Do most of the guys that don't have lightbars intend on trying to move the signals off the bars???
I haven't yet found a clean solution that works with a detachable windshield, so I pretty much planned on just extending those wires out as well and leaving them right where they are. Doesn't necessarily look bad to me, and I really don't want to go the expense of a lightbar or some kind of mod to mount them on the tripletrees. Maybe there's a perfect product from someone like: http://www.headwinds.com/index.html
Maybe something like:
Except just for turn signals?
yeah.. I dig.. I might have to break down and try to find the hardware to make something like that work.
Apparently, it's just a matter of a piece of threaded stud with different threads on each side... Might have to play around with it.
Babs I'll try to get new pictures of my setup, I have the Headwinds bar and passing lamps you posted up, only difference is I recently put the FL style chrome nacelle on. The turn sigs are located on the headwinds bar also.
Reason I went with Headwinds bar is my HD light bar started rusting underneath that I didn't catch in time, and Ii didn't like the design anyway.
Downside to Headwinds is very pricey but it is what it is.
I finally got off my ______ and ordered the 12.5" wildones. NOW...............Could someone give me some pointers on extending the wires through the bars. Thanks in advance!![sm=smiley25.gif]
