Back rest adjustment...
Wife has a bad back, needs the pass. back rest to be a bit higher up.
Have the standard low upright, medallion style with the nice wide pad on it.
The pad would be fine if I could just slide it up higher on the upright about 2 or 3 inches or so, doable?
I took a quick look at what i thought was securing the pad to the upright: the cross bar with the two Phillips head screws; but when I loosened them the pad was still secured to the upright. Is there another screw behind the round "Harley" insert in the medallion portion of the upright? if so how do I access it?
Is there an obvious reason not to move the pad up a bit on the upright?
Buying the "Tall" upright is an option, but the pad that fits that isn't as nice as the one I have now and the "Tall" upright is 20" which is really a lot more than I need to add...
Thoughts. (some photos of the bike are up in my album, though the one showing the backrest ain't the greatest...)
I was told that there is double stick tape holding it on so a good sharp single edge razor blade and steady hands should do it. From that point on I can't help ya.

That said I found that I had the "medium low" upright on the bike & the "low" was only a couple of inches longer. The wife can't help the bad back & needs full support, so I thought I'd order the tall... Found out the "Tall" upright (like 20") won't fit the '09 FLSTF. I was stuck for a while as to what to do until i came across an Ebay auction for what appeared to be a Harley sissy bar/upright that was 11 1/16 wide at the base & 20" long (stated in the auction that it fit all the newer Fatboy's (with the 200 rear tire & wider fender). Turns out it is an aftermarket made by V-twin manufacturing co. Good source for Harley fitment and an even lower price. Got one shipping from NY, chrome upright, long pad and hardware to attach pad shipped via USPS Priority mail to FL. all for $125. Between what Harley parts & tax would have come to I saved $50... Now have a "Medium Low" upright with attached backrest for sale on Craigslist
