Default brake caliper testing

Is there a way to test a rear brake caliper short of installing it on my bike? If so do you think the stealer will have that equipment? thanks

I have not heard of the stealer having such test equipment but not much time to just hook it up and see if its operational

You can test it "off the bike" but it will have to be connected and bled. Stick a thin section of wood, like a piece of flooring, paneling or 1/4-inch plate in between the pistons....bleed the brakes and see how the pedal feels.

You could do it with air if you are careful but what would it show. However this is what I do on the 4 piston ones on my bike which I think works well for me. First when changing pads I do not push them in. I simply pull the caliper and then pull the pads. I place a slightly thiner piece of plyboard in their place and push the pistons out slightly more. Then I carefully clean the exposed area. Then I reinsert the board and a scraper and lever the pistons back in as far as they go. Then I carefully press the master cylinder watching that all 4 pistons move equally. It would be no big deal to check it if it has banjo fittings using the bikes line and a box to lay it on. When I pull mine I lay it there. Doubt if dealer goes to this trouble.
