Want to buy chrome levers for my girlfriend's 97 Heritage for christmas. The Harley ones are $99. Anyone buy some from E-bay? I see some for around $30.00. Wondering what the quality would be like.
Unless Harley's are 'billet' they aren't worth anymore than the $30 ones. My brother runs a set he got for $30 on the internet and they have been just fine.
I've had both sets in the past... On my $30.00 e-bay levers they were thicker and wider than the $99.00 HD levers. Also on the $30.00 levers the levers end ***** were different sizes. I think the cheaper levers were made by Custom Chrome. The HD levers the end ***** were smaller and even.
Make sure to get the correct levers for your year bike. Newer bikes have safety switches in your controls.
I have the kuryakyn chrome levers that come with the Electro magnetic throttle lock and they seem to be better chromed than some other product from Kurykayn. Once in a whie i have to clean the areas i don't usually touch because they build up a "grey" matter that can be polishes off. Nice wide flaired out blade that is real comfortable and much better than the HD OEM. The are a bit more expensive at I think about $79 but I have experienced that many times the cheaper chrome items are not chromed multiple times and in the long run can pit and discolor. I usually bite the bullet and get an item with chrome which is better for me in the long run.
My first set of chrome controls were made by "Custom Chrome" ($139). The levers were mis-matched and the ***** were different sized. The screws also rusted. Very cheaply made. I wouldn't buy again. I ended up buying the HD ($99) levers to match it up.
I then purchased the "Drag Specialties" ($249) chrome controls. Much better made. Levers matched perfectly. And no rusting. Very well made for the price. I would purchase again.
