I finally got tired of shoulder pain and I've ordered some apes (12"). But I forgot to order new riser bushings. What are the best riser bushings for apes?
I got the Arlen Ness flush mounted bushing kit with the urethane.
I start my install tomorrow. BR Custom Lighting Bolts, 1.5" dia. so they are heavy bars.
I think you should use what you have, and see how it works.
I have rubber in mine. Everybody said I would want urethane, but so far so good.
Every rider is different. Go with what works. Use what you have, then decide.
Cool bike!

I agree, My pops is runnin 16" 1.5" thick carlini gangsta apes with the stock bushings on his Heritage and no issues. Im about to order the same ones for my Luxe and will probably use the stock ones until they cause an issue.
Just did the bushings in mine. When I first installed my apes, I used the stock rubber ones. But after a season of riding I noticed alittle bit more play. But I also run 18 inchers, 1.5 thick. Just put in urethane ones and there is no play now. IMHO, when you do the apes, change out the bushings. Saves from having to do it later. Just sayin...
Thanks all for advice. I have picked up some poly bushings on ebay. I can't find the 1" used risers I bought a few months ago when I first started thinking apes so I had to get another used set on ebay while I was there. I think they may have gotten mixed up with a bunch of crap I sold at a swap meet. I hope I get this all put together in the next month or so before I loose anything else...
From everything I've read, at 12" you won't have a problem with rubber. I have 12.5" and never had them move at all. At 16" and 18" may be a different story. Also heard that you get more vibration with the urethane bushings. Don't know if it's significant though. Just stay with the rubber, you'll be fine!
I dont get any vibration in mine and I run 18s. I also use alloy arts too so, that may be the reason. I love mine, when I had rubbers in em, I had a 1/2 in play in them. Now I dont have any at all.
