I installed a new suicide clutch with a jockey shifter from LaBriola machine, that I order through Dr. V-Twin (thanks Drew). The kit is well constructed with quality paint. The mounting holes did not exactly line up and required a little work with a dremel tool and file.
The installation is pretty simple once I modified the bracket holes. The hardest part was removing the the bottom bolt on the shift arm, I thought I was going to have to remove the primary cover but it finally came loose. I didn't use the pedal that came with the kit. Instead I flipped the stock toe shifter and mounted the peg on the other side. This allows me to push the pedal below the floor board and the clutch will engage without having to lift my whole foot.
It took a few times riding and then adjusting the cable and pedal position, now it's smooth as butter.
I also took some forum advice (thanks pococj) and put a spring on the clutch cable to help keep the pedal down. I also attached a spring on the shift arm to reduce wobble.
Cool! Where's the video of the first ride? I'm just pulling your leg. Anyone who has seen the video of my first ride knows what I am talking about. KK6PG, you still out of town? Post that video!
I love the glass shifter ****. Very cool. I still have to put a spring on the clutch cable. I read about it but completely forgot. Enjoy!
bmr, how would you rate the difficulty of the installantion? I am looking at getting some guys to pitch in and get one of these set ups for a Brother. It will be on a 02 Ultra. He is a 5 tour Nam vet and his hands are pretty bad off right now.
Drew, I tried to call them as per your suggestion but can't get an answer or a return call. Can you pm me the pricing for everything that would be needed?
