Sure wish I had anti-lock brakes the other day. I locked 'em up pretty good in making an abrupt stop....Thank God I kept it up as I was sliding. Definitely an eye opener. I'm pretty sure ABS would prevent that from happening.
It's more than just a change in hand controls. Check the December issue of American Iron. There's a pretty detailed article on the new control interconnect (HDLAN & CAN) introduced with the 2011 Softails. It gives you a trip switch on the left control and a hazard switch on the right control. They basically replaced circuit connections with a data bus interconnect. You can use LED turn signals without an extra module with this new system. There are some additional protections built into the system, and lots more diagnostic codes. The turn signal module and hands-free security module were replaced with one module, the Body Control Module. Wire thickness is reduced, along with the number of wires. The high-current loads that used to run through the ignition and other switches are removed, replaced by a low-voltage data network between the switches and BCM.
Besides that, you can get the 2011 in Silver and Denim White which weren't available in 2010.

That's what I was thinking... control was my concern.
Think about it this way...we've gotten by without ABS for years in both cars and cycles. Not saying they can't be a lifesaver but when it's your time to go...Nothing ABS is going to do about it.

I've heard a few guys don't like the ABS cause in the event where you need to stop quickly and slam the brakes, the ABS kicks in and actually increases stopping distance by pulsating the brakes.
Just take your bike to a parking lot and try it out. It takes a lot of force to lock em up as is.
