Default Fatboy Lo Black Denim Paint

I am thinking about possibly buying a black denim FB low and want to know how hard is it to maintain the paint? Black bikes, in general, are harder to maintain but I am thinking it would be given harder with the denim. Please let me know what you do to maintain and if you can keep it looking new. Thanks! Lonnie

denim is easier than gloss, it doesn't show the swirls like vivid black does. No waxing. If you have a soft cloth and windex, you have what you need.....just remember it is meant to look "weathered" I use Harley gloss between washes and it still looks like it did when I bought it....

I agree, had a vivid black sporty and the denim is a lot easier. I used to wipe down the sporty after every ride, it shows every speck of dirt and dust. The denim I hardly mess with at all, if I didn't have a windshield I know I would go a month without wiping down anything. Only have two years and 18000 miles but it is holding up great.

Denim does scratch easier and since it's not gloss (no clear coat), you can't wax the small scratches out. Once it's scratched, it's scratched. I have several scratches on my tank from wear my legs rub the tank.

There are multiple posts on taking care of the Denim paint, and the general consensus is that it's very forgiving, and the best way to clean it is with Windex.

Enjoy the ride.

Windex and a rag...

Back to front on the tins, and then front to back on lights and trim. Finish up with engine components and everything down low.

I had a Iron and loved the paint so much and the ease of taking care of it I had my Fat Bob painted Denim black.

Real cool paint concept, but I can't help wondering how this was done. Being that there's no clear-coat over the top, you must be able to feel the edges of the flames, correct?
