It's very easy to do.. just remove the plate and support bracket. Cut two relief cuts on each side of the bracket, reinstall and bend the bracket back where you want it. Its a cheap mod that buys you some time to do other cool mods. I made the cuts using a dremmel tool, its kind of a ghetto way of doing it but it looks good from 2 feet away.

Thanks again. Now is any of that resting on the fender and if so, I could bend the plate bracket right?

The only part that touchs the fender is the rubber pad on the back of the plate. There shouldn't be any need to bend it, but I guess you could if you wanted. It might be a little difficult as I believe the plate is stainless. Which in my experience is a pretty hard to bend.

Yup, there's a little ruber bumper that prevents the back of the plate from rubbing on your fender. My only concerns: a lot of $$ for a sheet of stainless steel. Plus, you'll need to spring for the Softbrake lense housing to get rid of the old plate mounting bracket and cover up the tag light. And you'll need something to light up your license plate if that's required where you live. It does clean up the rear end nicely, but it's gonna cost you a couple hundred bucks to do it right.

I like the softbrake kit much better than the layback and is what im rockin on my luxe. Cleaner look IMO. I had the kuryakyn curved layback on my fatboy and it looked good too, but with the tombstone the luxe has, softbrakes the only way to go.

Whats up Kozy, I put the softbrake plate on my 05 Deluxe because I like the clean lines it gives the rear end of the bike. The instructions are terrible but I managed to get it on and it looks great, has a nice custom look to it. You will have to be creative with the wiring and the rubber bumper prevents any fender damage.
