Sorry ... but you made an incorrect assumption.... I never mentioned turning the DRLs off when I am riding. As a matter of fact .. I have installed other front bearing lights I turn on during the day and high intensity LEDs in the rear for safety sake.

The ONLY reason I want to cut them off .. is when I tie into the Thundermax Engine Control Manager (ECM) ... so that I am not wearing the battery down with a burning DRL ... during read/write sessions or I am taking a little longer connected to the ECM working on Air Fuel Ratio or Advance curve tuning. The headlamp starves the battery quickly ... and I would like to turn it off during those sessions. I have a pigtail attached to the 36 pin connector .. but I still have to remove two fuses to keep from draining the battery. An aftermarket plug-n-play kit with switches would make things a bit easier and not require removing the seat ... minor issue I can live with.

I do appreciate folks telling me FACTS on DLRs ... still ... would be nice if riders could decide to turn them on or not ... nanny government at work again. I suppose the first poster is right on .. I will have to make something up myself ... thanks all.

I see your point in wanting to turn them off for that, but I also run the thundermax and it shouldn't take long enough to change the map to worry about it. A dyno tune may need more tweaking but the ign. doesn't need to be on to make changes to the base map prior to writing it to the ecm.The only big issue with turning them off is forgetting to turn them back on. As long as you keep a charge on the battery when it sits for any extended period, you should be in good shape. You could always pull the fuse for the lights if you have concerns about it.

Sorry man, I was still hungover from the night before when I posted the last one.LOL. Didn't notice that you do pull the fuses. I have to ask though, how often do you mess with it? I set mine up and rode it with no problems all season. Except for the dash cutting out b/s.
