Default Just What I Need

Thanks for this info. I've had my 2011 FLSTC for under a month. I *really* like this bike. But the wind buffetting is far more than I've ever experienced on my past rides. It's a real irritation. I'm 5'10 like you. I look over the stock shield, which is nice, but not worth that turbulence detracting from the pleasure. I've had to deal with shields that I have to look thru, and could look over if I sat fully upright, so I'd accept that tradeoff.

I'm in Houston, and found that a local HD dealer is listed as a dealer for these shields. Will be heading there soon!

Thanks for your comments!

Since I take off the windshield often to clean it I'll have to muck around with it and see if I can add spacers or? to align it better and make the install easier. I may even call Klock Werks to find out if that is a common problem.

I rode it about 30 miles in traffic and a little freeway up to 75 mph and here's my initial thoughts.

-The buffeting that would shake my helmet, glasses, eyes, brain and teeth with the stock windshield is virtually gone. The air coming at me is much smoother and initial thoughts are that I'm glad I bought it.
-I'm 5-10" and looking through the windshield is definately something I'll have to get used to, especially through it with a tint. There is a slight distortion where it flares at the top, again something I'll have to learn to get used to.

I'll have to see what happens at night and in the rain, both of which I don't do much of so it's not a major concern at this point.
When I get more miles I'll report back if anyone is interested.

Thanks for the input on the brackets not aligning. I have put a little silicone lube on the rubber mounts and that makes all the difference. I put the windshield on with every bracket screw loose then tightened them all, it's closer to matching-probably 1/4" off but I think that's doable. I'll double check that I have the mount brackets on the correct sides, not sure if that would even mount on the bike if they were on the wrong side but I'll see.

I took off my fangs and rode Sunday to my favorite local mountain twisty, Hwy 9 through Saratoga to Summit rd.
First stretch is freeeway, 10 miles or so. The usual buffeting (stock windshield) would start about 55 MPH is all but gone with the Billboard. I tested all speeds through about 85 MPH with the same results. The shirt slap is still there however it's reduced dramatically.
The other thing I noticed is that my T-shirt sleeve does not fill will air as it had before. That indicates less wind at my hands which will come in handy in the cold. I'm already getting used to looking through the windshield, after a while I don't even know it's there.
Going through the mountains where you get full sun then tree shade is a bit of a challenge so the jury is still out on the tint.
So far that's the best $200 I've spent on the bike, the plus side outweighs the negatives by a huge margin (especially not having the ugly fangs). Hope this helps fellas.

Interesting. You were able to drive without the fangs and the buffetting was reduced dramatically?

Yep,fangs by themselves helped the buffeting however Billboard minus fangs is dramatically improved. I will probably leave the fangs off even though they may help a little more, I am just not keen on the look.

Any more reviews out there for this shield? Those of you that have it, do you still like it, and has the clarity stayed the same? Thanks.

Well I put the klock sheild on in Sturgis last year and rode it home to the tune of over 3000 miles. I put the stock sheild on when I got home. Didn't like looking through the sheild because low sun and this sheild didn't get along. I got the lite tinted one by the way. Found more buffiting in certain cross winds also. They had let me try it out before I bought it and thought it was going to be ok but changed my mind on the way home. It might offer better down force to the front end but how often would that be a factor. I'm not running on the Salt Flats. I changed the front wheel to a more open 18 incher this year and thought about tring it again but still dislike that it's too tall. My stock sheild I used a laminate router to make it the right heigth, but that's not an option with this sheild. You interested in a slightly used one that fits a Fatboy Lo let me know.
