That sucks! Oh well, thanks for the info. Was going to put one on my old EVO but never got the chance before I sold it, so thought if I could do it to this bike, I would.
So.... I have no idea how these things work. Just asking a question, maybe a stupid question.
Is the sensor controlled by some chip? Wouldn't it be possible for a company to sell a chip or program download that would solve the firing on startup?
My guess is there wouldn't be a market enough for a company to develop this.
Just asking, and thinking out loud.

While you are day dreaming on this project, you might want to consider how you would route the new exhaust system you will likely have to build. Notice the routing of the rear pipe? Your exhaust is right where the kicker would need clearance to swing.
Having had a 93 inch shovelhead kick start magneto bike, I can't imagine why anyone would want to. I don't see me wanting to take on the Stage II 103 in my street glide or the SE 120R that is going into my street bob with a kicker. Even with compression releases probably going to be a bear to start.
If you really love the kicker concept, pick up an older bike to trick out and leave the twin cam for the your daily driver.
Yup, my other bike is a dirt bike that I put street tires and a headlight on. That thing is kick only and kicking that (650cc) can be a pain in the *** enough as is. I think the novelty of a kick only bikes wears off real quick.
Well, it seems that it can't be done as of yet. So, I'm not really day dreaming anymore about it, but rather thinking of getting an older EVO or something that's cheap that I can build to my liking. If I ever did a kickstart, I'd leave the electric ignition so I can still start it when I'm not in the mood for the kickstart.
Fire off an email to Steve at GMR Performance. I talked to him about putting one on my 05 and he recommended a couple different kits. He is very knowledgeable and has a good rep in the high performance business. He's usually pretty good about responding to emails.
there was a twin came fuel injected bike on hot bike a couple years ago, that was kicker. the article stated someone made a kit to allow the sensor to work on 1 rotation instead of 2. i will see if i kept it. it was an exile style bike, but not done by exile.
