Default 07 Exhaust

I am going to get a new 2007 Night Train. My question is, will older pipes fit on the 07? Or, do you need to get special pipes that fit the 2007?

And, why?

Even without the O2 sensor?

Even with custom brackets?

Needed new ones for the heritage, as they relocated the crossover tubes from the mufflers to the header pipe

I just got my 07 Night train last weekend so I done a lil research while I was waiting for the bike (3 weeks). You will need new pipes to fit the 07, they do have as you know the O2 sensor. The older pipes like the 06's will work but no O2 sensors. Power programer has a tune that will eliminate the need for the O2 sensors. According to their website its not available yet but comming soon. I imagine with custom brackets and a pipe bender you could make anything work. My 0.02 is wait for the pipe you want and not mess with the eliminating the sensors, That could void your warrantee. After the break in period I'm going for the Bassani prostreet pipe in black which they have ready to ship right now!

Well if it is the case of just the O2 sensor, one should be able to weld a bung in the pipe and screw in the O2 sensor?

Yep that would work. You would still need a power programer of some kind since you are lowering the back presure and giving the bike a more lean condition. So you would need the right program for your bike and that perticular pipe, unless you have a device that can tell you your lean/rich ratio. If you can find a local shop with a dyno and wide band sensor that would be best. They could tell you your ratio but unless they have the program to flash your bikes computer you will have to use the adjustments on the programer you buy. Which means you will have to play with it and get the ratio right. Too lean and you can burn a hole in the tops of your pistons after a short while. I would only jump through hoops like that if they were some kind of "one off" bad *** pipes! Give it a few months and there will be a wider selection of pipes and plug and play devices.

Thanks. I am a mechanic and proficient with Power Commander. I will just bump it up to a richer condition, then when I get concerned about performance I will spend the extra time to tune it. I appreciate the concern, very kind of you. I can get a set of '06 pipes for $50, whereas "new" '07 pipes are $500.00. I am mostly a sports bike guy and don't know about the specifics about the new o2 Harley pipe. Looking forward to joining the Harley crowd...

WHOA sounds like we have a lot in common! I have rode sports bikes for a while. I owend 2 GSXR's a 92 1100 and an 04 750. I have had countless offroad bikes and currently have an 06 Raptor 700 FI. That was first experience in dealing with FI bikes. So I had to go through all crap of find a person with a raptor dyno to tune the bike just right. The first power comanders for that bike have no adjustments, just a preloaded program, which we all know is junk perfomance wise. I'm done with the sport bikes and my family is prouder of me (LOL) since my brother and father both rode HD's.

Right on. I have an '01 Hayabusa and Power Commander II. I am getting a little older now and my body is wanting a more comfortable riding position. Don't get me wrong I love the sport bikes and am keeping mine, just want to "cruise" on something a lttle more comfortable sometimes...

Talk to a few shops. Said that I can buy pre 07 pipes weld o2s and get the sert and take to a dyno. Also talk to H-D, no problem from them. Getting ready to order pipes from street walker.
