Aloha One and All, I was just at the HD site and noticed the New Speedo-Tach thats
for the 2011softail models and was wondering if I could use it on my 06 softail without to much problem. The price was good at 259.99. Anyone done this yet?

 

Hi there. Which bike? Is it for that pretty blue Deuce? Some speedo tachs are only for Dynas, etc. Others may fir the mount, but not operate the neutral, 6th gear, etc. lights. The best bet is to find one that HD recommends for your bike. Try these out:

Yo Dragon!! I have read on the forum that the Tach-Speedo combo kits for the 2011 bikes won't fit any other year of bike. Not even the 10's. Different wiring setup. I know the one you are talking about and it's sweet but she won't work on the pre-2011 bikes.

 

Thats what the dealer told me when I made an inquiry

 

From what I understand, the 2011's store the Speedometer information in the ECU, the older bikes store it in the speedometer itself.

 

This is correct. I've done A LOT of research recently on some new speedo/tachs and there's one I really want for mine, but they only make it for 2011s. I have been asking the dealer and buddies that work for Harley and they all have told me that it's because of the reason stated above. Sorry, but no go for us with "relics" now!! LOL

 

Thanks for the Info guys. Is there by any chance a Speedo -tach made for my 06
softail standard? The Nice Blue Deuce is my Wifes. I have a Red Softtail. I have read on here that the Black dial Speedo-tach bubbles under the Sun and stops functioning.

 

I seen the new one also.

Surprised me that one for the 11's is about 1/2 the $$$ of the ones on pre 11 bikes...

 

Google "Autometer tach harley" and you'll come up with some hits. about 399.00 IIRC but well worth it for about any year/model.
